This method, also called micro-needling therapy, is performed with a single use roller, creating microscopic punctures in the skin. The result is a cascade of bio-chemical reactions in the dermis leading to skin repair and cell renewal.
Local anaesthetic cream is applied before the procedure to ensure that it is completely painless. Masks containing hyaluronic acid, vitamins and nutrition are used immediately after a dermaroller treatment to ensure the most effective results.
There are two types of dermarollers: one used by the physician and the other for home use by patients. Patients come once a month for a procedure with their cosmetic doctor, and use their home dermaroller once a week during the course of treatment, which typically lasts 4-6 months. Slight redness immediately after the procedure settles after 24-48 hours, and skin flakes after 3-4 days. Patients are advised to use sun block cream. The effect is built up over a few weeks.
